October 8, 2011 Our 11th annual Pet Appreciation Fair & WALK for the Animals will be held this year at El Dorado Regional Park in collaboration with Long Beach Animal Care Services and Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine. Bring the whole family out to enjoy this fun filled entertaining, exciting and educational experience. From 9:00 A.M. till 3:00 P.M. there will be live entertainment by Blue Steel, raffles, crafters, exhibitor and vendor booths, demonstrations in agility and Flyball by Muttley Crew. The Disc Dogs will also be providing demonstrations of their high flying skills. The Long Beach Aquarium mobile learning center will be on hand to allow you to get up close and personal with some unusual sea life. Long Beach Animal Care Services will be holding a low cost vaccine and microchip clinic. There will be activities for the children with bounce houses, clowns, face painting and more. Finally, don’t forget to sign Fido up for the pet contests where he can win some fun prizes. You can get even more in to the action by registering for our Main Event, a 2K or 5K WALK. The route is a flat easy concrete path that winds through the acres of picturesque parkland and is suitable to all ages and abilities including strollers and the family dogs too. Each paid Registration includes a raffle ticket, commemorative t-shirt and goodie bag. An additional raffle ticket will be earned for each $25.00 in pledges collected. Anyone raising $500 or more will receive a sport bag and the top fundraisers will be rewarded with exciting prizes too. Top adult prizes include your choice of a 2 ½ hour session with Sunset Flying. This is not a sightseeing flight because you fly the plane. Enjoy a six month membership to the Belmont Athletic Club. The Club is a full service fitness facility located in the heart of Belmont Shore. Or a $150 certificate for The Madison where you will partake in a dining experience that is not easily matched for elegance and style. Located inside one of California’s architectural marvels on Pine Avenue, The Madison is a tribute to the majestic interiors of an ageless, grander America. Our top junior fundraiser will be rewarded with 4 tickets to the happiest place on Earth, Disneyland. Top teams won’t be overlooked either. The Team raising the most in the adult division will receive a harbor cruise on a private cabin cruiser including beverages and snacks to enjoy while you and your team relax and enjoy the rewards of their labor. The junior team will receive a bowling party complete with pizza and soda. Register now and start your fundraising. More prizes are still being added and remember, all your efforts help Friends of Long Beach Animals in their mission to prevent euthanasia of healthy animals.
